Oasis: Salos for Ticketmaster’s fiasco with ticket prices – Starts research
The British government will investigate the use of “dynamic pricing” from ticket issuing websites after the saliva created with the inflated ticket prices for upcoming Oasis concerts.
Ticket sales for the reunion of Oasis – Noel and Liam Gallagher – began Saturday morning, but Ticketmaster continued to raise prices — even when people waited online for hours, as Politico reports.
Dynamic pricing adapts demand-based prices and, while it is a typical method in the US for high demand concerts, it recently became more widespread in the UK, rapidly increasing prices. Tickets for Oasis originally cost £ 148.50 (€176), but after a few hours they ejected to £35.20 (€422).
After protests from Oasis fans, the British government said it would intervene and investigate the controversial practice, as announced by Culture Minister Lisa Nadi.
” It is disappointing to see extremely high prices, which exclude ordinary fans,” notes Lisa Nadi, while adding that she wants to end the “black market” ticket ensuring that they will be sold “at fair prices”. He confirmed that the British government plans to review the ticket sales system and protect consumers.
