Burt Storm: Four Dead in Britain

Roads and railway lines were closed today in Britain after the storm Bert hit the country this weekend, causing widespread flooding and costing life to four people. Throughout England and Wales there were over 200 flood warnings and alarms, while train routes from London to the southwest were cancelled and serious problems were caused to railway services in central England.

” Today do not attempt to travel on any route,” said Great Western Railway, whose trains connect London to Bristol and Cornwall.

Basic roads in Northhamptonshire and Bristol were closed while rail links between London and Stansten Airport, the fourth largest in Britain, had been discontinued due to falling trees on rails.

The problems were caused after the storm Bert struck Britain late Friday, with snowfalls, rainfall and strong winds. The weather service maintained the warning of strong winds in northern Scotland today and stated that weather conditions in that part of the country are expected to improve early tomorrow.
