Britain: Transport Minister Louise Hay resigned
Her resignation from Britain’s transportation minister position was submitted by Louise Hay, who admitted she had falsely stated to the Police the theft of her phone in 2013.
” In 2013 I was robbed while on a night out. I was a young woman and the experience was terrifying. I reported it to the police and gave them a list of what I thought had been removed – including a mobile work phone. Some time later I discovered that this cell phone had not been removed. Meanwhile, I was given another work phone” he said.
And go on: “The activation of the cell phone caused police attention and asked me to come in for questioning. My lawyer advised me not to comment during the interrogation and I regret following this advice. In her letter to Prime Minister Kir Starmer she says she is fully committed to the government’s work, but could contribute better to it outside her ministerial position as the BBC says.
Her resignation is the first by the cabinet. Hay admitted her mistake and leaves her position in order not to distract such an incident from the government’s work. She stated that her appointment as the “youngest ever” female member of the cabinet remains one of the achievements of my life she is proud of. I’m sorry to leave under these circumstances, but I’m proud of what we’ve done,” she said, adding that she will continue working for her constituents in Sheffield. Kir Starmer stated that Hay had taken “a huge step” as Minister of Transport to return the railway system to public property and thanked her for her work.
