Britain: The trial of 18-year-old Axel who stabbed three little girls begins today.
The trial of a teenager in Britain, who is accused of killing three girls with a knife in the city of Southport, northern England last July, a bloody attack that shocked the country and caused many days of incidents. 18-year-old Axel Rudakubana is accused of killing six-year-old Beeby King, seven-year-old Elsie Dodd Stancomb and 9-year-old Alice Dashilva Aguiar, who participated in a children’s dance workshop with Taylor Swift songs in this quiet seaside town. The same teenager is also accused of attempting 10 homicides, producing the toxic substance ricin and possessing an al-Qaeda instruction manual. In his trial, which is expected to last from four to six weeks and will be held in a Liverpool court, only the complaint will present evidence and testify only as Rubakubana’s advocate confirmed that he will not develop arguments about his client’s innocence.
Britain-born Rudakubana, who was 17 years old at the time of the murders, did not plead not guilty or guilty during the December hearing and therefore Judge Julian Goose recorded on his behalf that he pleads not guilty. Police have announced that the attack is not treated as terrorism related. Southport broke out episodes after false information spread on social media that the perpetrator was a radical Islamic immigrant. These riots spread throughout Britain with attacks on mosques and hotels housing asylum seekers and led to more than 1,500 arrests with Prime Minister Kir Starmer rendering the incidents to “right-wing thugs” .
The attorney general’s office and local police have warned the media and the public not to publish or post anything on social media that could affect the trial by pointing out that anyone who violates this recommendation will risk being referred to justice.
